Who We Are

First and foremost, Simon Weikert Ore Mountains Enterprises is a small, independent business located in the German Ore Mountains. I am primarily self-employed, but I have a network of people who support me and with whom I collaborate when I cannot fully handle the tasks at hand.
The company name comes from “Ore Mountains” (Erzgebirge in German), the region where I live and grew up. I chose the term “Enterprises” because I see myself as an entrepreneur. I named the business this way so that I could use this name for a future rebranding at any time without causing a major disruption to the brand identity.

Founding & Concept

We were registered on April 1, 2026, in the municipality of Amtsberg as Simon Weikert Ore Mountains Enterprises, a software consulting and development firm.

The idea for this came to me after more than 10 years at Siemens Industry Software and the 5 years prior to that at a partner company—but actually even before that. Time and again, I felt that my opportunities were limited and that, outside of my assigned software role, I wasn’t given the time to explore and develop other areas that also matched my skill set.

Now that I'm self-employed, I have more responsibility, but also more freedom. Freedom that I use to pursue my own ideas—things I would have always wondered if they would have worked out if I hadn't tried them.

I'm also convinced that flat structures—with no hierarchies, just areas of responsibility—lead to greater efficiency and faster decision-making by the right people. That's something I've missed for a long time.

Finally, I can now tap into my network and work on projects with people whose professional backgrounds I wouldn't have been able to leverage in my time at Siemens.
